Welcome to Monty!!

The MCCC was selected to give a new home to Monty, the penguin. The offer of adoption came from John Lewis, department stores. Following their well loved Christmas Advert: ‘Monty’s Christmas’ John Lewis wanted to create greater awareness and protection of the Adelaide penguins at the South Pole. Monty is here to stay and everyone to enjoy!

Launch of the Oral History Booklet

On April 26 the Oral History Booklet was launched at the MCCC as a conclusion to the Reminiscence Project. Watford Dignitaries were present: Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill; Norman and Mavis Tyrwhitt, Freemen of the Borough of Watford; a representative of the police and a few councillors. After the welcoming remarks from Sharifa Chaudry, the Mayor congratulated the ladies for their contributions to this valuable project. Free copies of the booklet were given to all the ladies who had participated in the project as well as to those who were in attendance. We concluded the afternoon with refreshments and socializing. An article was published in the Watford Observer on Friday May 2, 2014.
